Ji Won Choi
Born in Seoul, raised in the Midwest USA, and educated in New York City and Paris, Ji Won Choi's work revolves around using design to connect cultures while promoting positive change. Graduating from Parsons School of Design with a BFA in fashion design, she presented her thesis collection, 'Excessivism,' at the Parsons Benefit in May 2017. The collection was the winner of the Kering Empowering Imagination Award, winner of the Yoogygen Award by Yoox, a finalist of the Eyes on Talent Award, CFDA Fashion Future Graduate, and a finalist of the Parsons Creative Systems Award. Her work has been displayed at the Bergdorf Goodman window in New York and at New York Textile Month. In September 2017, she was awarded the "Ones to Watch" Award by Fashion Scout and presented her collection at London Fashion Week. In April 2018, her exclusive capsule collection for Yoox was launched. Selected as one of Series 6 designers, she presented her next collection, 'Xenomania,' at New York Fashion Week in September 2018 in partnership with the CFDA and LIFEWTR. Through her partnership with the CFDA, Ji Won designed a water bottle that is sold nationwide. In October, she was selected as one of the international designers to showcase her collection at GTBank's Fashion Weekend in Lagos, Nigeria; an event promoting enterprise and small businesses in Africa. In February 2019, she presented a collection in collaboration with Adidas Originals at London Fashion Week. The first drop of two was launched a week later in Adidas stores worldwide and online through KITH, Net-A-Porter, Urban Outfitters, and ASOS amongst many others. Her work has been worn and celebrated by icons such as Beyoncé, Kendall Jenner, Karlie Kloss, Kourtney Kardashian, Willow Smith, etc.
