A twenty-year broadcast career began alongside a world-leading producer of ethnographic films, the Discovery Channel (US) and National Geographic (US) studying, living-with and documenting tribes in Africa, the Amazon and Irian Jaya. Experience includes sailing across the Baltic Sea as part of the Tall Ships Race, exploring the Congo River Basin for the World Wildlife Fund, working with a shark-lab in the Bahamas, riding horses bareback across the grasslands of Ruoergai, summiting the Pyrenees, surviving an Earthquake on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and walking to the North Pole. Julian has mentored film students around the world guest lecturing in Pakistan and Zimbabwe leading to an invitation to participate for a UN Women panel themed 'Women in Film' held at the Bharia University in Islamabad. For this work Julian accepted a nomination for fellowship of the Royal Society of the Arts. A parallel career in supporting digital campaigns culminated in a position as Head of Communication launching IC Tomorrow an app-development portal for a digital innovation programme incorporating an online innovation networking community and testbed trial management platform developed by InnovateUK.
